Love Inks, “Blackeye”

Austin, Texas three-piece Love Inks are coming off a string of strong sets from 2011’s SXSW and first single “Blackeye” from their debut album E.S.P. is sure to seduce music fans and critics alike. Clocking in at under 2-minutes, “Blackeye” is the perfect spring time track that will add a skip to your step with its gorgeous guitar hook and four/four cardio-rhythmic beat. Sure, it’s a cute pop song, but there is something haunting about Sherry LeBlanc’s soft vocals cooing “Did it happen last night/Blackeye on your eye”. The album E.S.P. is due on May 2nd, surely this single is only a hint of what Love Inks represent musically – a fantastic introduction to what may become your favourite new band. (City Slang)
