Alycia Levels, P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens)
Alycia Levels’ unbreakable faith in The Lord is what steered her away from industry studio-heads as they flooded her with contracts to create secular dance music. I’m not religious in nature, but I can appreciate that kind of devotion and vision from such a young artist. It also helps that Levels is a very talented artist worthy of all the buzz. Her debut album P.U.S.H. specializes in urban R&B that is light-hearted, beat heavy and instantly catchy. While she doesn’t take too many risks here, every track is beautifully produced and her voice is pitch perfect and soulful. Choice cuts include clubbers (“Keep On Movin’” & “Push”) Retro-grade soul numbers (“Prayer Changes Things” & “Beautiful Life”) and grandiose dance ballads (“Found” & “Joy”). A surprising and fun album that rejoices in life with the glory of God – so get up off your feet and dance! (Another Levels Production)
